Owner's manual
Made in Chepstow.
Analogue Media is Oliver Thompson, who has been designing and building websites, products and the automation behind them since long before it was a limited company. Hire the studio and you get the person who designs the thing, builds the thing and answers the phone about the thing, and who, slightly embarrassingly, enjoys every part of it.

Hello, I'm Oliver
I have spent twenty-one very happy years designing and building websites and automating the work around them, and the studio is in Chepstow, on the River Wye. I love old technology and new in equal measure, which may explain the telly on the home page.
What I build
Websites and products for businesses with rules to follow, money to take and time to save. I have an unusual fondness for learning the rules a business works within, well enough to design around them gracefully, and you can see how that turns out below: five pieces of work, each on its own page. I also help organisations large and small put automation and AI to good use, which has a page of its own: consultancy.
Note Elle Peate came to me for Cultivate, her consultancy's whole identity, and came back for Footprints in the Forest.

How a project runs
The same way every time, and nothing about it is a mystery: you always know what happens next, what it costs and what you will have at the end of it.
- A free first callA short, unhurried talk about what would help most. Bring ideas, or none at all.
- A written proposalA fixed price and exactly what it includes, in plain English.
- Built in phasesSomething you can see and click at the end of every one.
- LaunchYou own everything outright: the code, the accounts and the domain.
- Looked afterKept up to date, secure and quick, and improved as you grow.
What it costs to start
Most projects here land somewhere between £3,000 and £25,000. The lower end buys a site that is fast, correct and clear about what it offers. The upper end buys a product, with payments, accounts and the rules of your sector built into the software itself.
If your budget is smaller, do say so anyway. A smaller thing done beautifully can be exactly right, and the first call is a very good place to find it.

Where your budget goes furthest
Ready-made tools for the everyday parts, and custom work only where the rules, the money or the volume make it worthwhile. Sometimes a ready-made website builder is exactly the right tool, and when it is the right one for your project, I will cheerfully say so. Finding that mix is a large part of what you are paying for.
Troubleshooting
The questions anyone asks before working with a studio of one, answered.
| Problem | Remedy |
|---|---|
| You are not sure what you need | That is what the free first call is for. Bring whatever ideas you have, or none at all. |
| Your budget is under £3,000 | Say so on the first call. A smaller thing, done beautifully, is often exactly right. |
| You would rather not talk on the phone | Email hello@analogue.media instead. A sentence is plenty. |
| You are waiting for a reply | It comes within one working day, and always from me. |
| You are a long way from Chepstow | No trouble at all. The catalogue already runs from Welshpool to Wiltshire. |
| You would like to see older work | The catalogue shows the recent work. Behind it are twenty-one years of websites, and the back catalogue is yours on request: all of it, or just the projects closest to yours. Leave a message saying what you would like to see. |
| Something needs changing after launch | I look after what I build, and keep improving it as you grow. |
Thank you for reading.
